New Guns N' Roses Track for Guitar Hero III?

Sunday • June 17,  2010   7:56:55 PM

According to Product Shop NYC, Activision has announced it will release Guitar Hero III, the fifth version of the guitar jamming game, in early 2008. The soundtrack will include a wide variety of material, including tracks by Queens of the Stone Age and (possibly) new Guns N' Roses. As of now though, the only tracks confirmed for the game are below.

Guitar Hero III will also include more master recordings than previous iterations and a greater number of original recordings.

The company also confirmed that the game would be getting two new controllers -- a Gibson Les Paul guitar model for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii consoles, and a Gibson Kramer guitar for the PlayStation 2. Both controllers will be wireless.

The new game will also get a host of new features, including a "multiplayer action-inspired battle mode," and authentic rock venues. An expanded online multiplayer mode will allow gamers to compete with other guitar heroes worldwide.

RedOctane's head of publishing, Dusty Welch, said that the team had listened to fans' requests for this edition of the game. He commented, "Many of the top bands and songs we've tried to get in the past are now on board, and we've definitely got some giant aces in the hole to say the least."

Here's a list of the tracks that have been announced so far:

Original Recordings:
"Cult of Personality"
by Living Colour
"Paint It Black"
by the Rolling Stones
"Cherub Rock" by Smashing Pumpkins
"Sabotage" by Beastie Boys
"The Metal" by Tenacious D
"My Name Is Jonas" by Weezer
"Knights of Cydonia" by Muse
"Evenflow" by Pearl Jam
"Lay Down" by Priestess

Cover Songs:
"Rock And Roll All Nite" as made famous by KISS
"School's Out"
as made famous by Alice Cooper
"Slow Ride"
as made famous by Foghat
"Barracuda" as made famous by Heart

I think that would be a brilliant way to promote 'Chinese Democracy' and get the kids to discover great rock music! =)

Cool clip, gnr4ever!

I wonder if the audience actually got the 'Estranged' joke though..... =)

Regard the GHIII rumour, it would be a very smart move from GN'R to get a new song in the game.

That's pretty funny stuff. I don't usually post youtube links but I had never seen this interview with Avenged Sevenfold's Matt Shadows re: GN'R. Kind of old, I guess, but I thought it was pretty cool.

The GHIII thing would be a great promotion. Axl's big in the gaming stuff, isn't he? You would think there's a good chance of it.

SCOM is my sons favorite on GHII. I suck at all of them. LoL

hey ME.. I was gonna post this link also about Matt Shadow's. This is a super mellow cool dude and he has his shit together... he is someone that I respect the opinion of considering he is in the business.. much like Zack Wilde and his comments on the new material. Thanks Matt... props for the balls to keep it straight.
