Guns N' Roses Perform At Taipei County Stadium
Guns N' Roses kicked off the Chinese Democracy Tour in Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China last night (Dec. 11 in China), marking the band's first gigs in support of its 2008 CD. Footage from the Taipei County Stadium show has been leaked around YouTube and other video sharing sites with the videos showing an amazing performance from a band that sounds refreshed, energized and ready to kick some ass around the world.
Lead vocalist Axl Rose appeared on stage wearing a hat with his non-braided hair pulled back. Taipei television broadcast screen captures show the rock legend in fine form.
The band performed several selections from the Chinese Democracy CD, including opening the show with the title track. The latest single Street of Dreams remains at #44 on the Canadian Active Rock Charts and GN'R Greatest Hits rose one point to #18 on the Canadian Hard Rock Charts. GN'R Greatest Hits has been on the Canadian charts for 298 weeks. Chinese Democracy topped the charts in its first week of release in 2008, selling 70,000 copies in Canada. The last time GN'R topped the charts prior to that was in 1991 with Use Your Illusion II.
The outdoor stadium shows in Asia this month will generate unprecedented world attention as the new GN'R have plans for a world tour which will include Canada and South America in 2010. The band returns to Canada for 13 dates in January and February, while the South American shows are expected between March and April.

"Reuniting with the original members isn't an easy thing," Axl Rose says of any possible plans to reunite with the original members of Guns N' Roses. "The old members are all devoted to their own music, and I wholeheartedly support them in their endeavors. The important thing I'd say is to support the current members and the best environment so that we can keep making music. The only thing right now is Guns and Roses."
This may have been a translation, so it may have been different coming from his mouth. But, if its accurate, I think its interesting that he did not bad mouth any of them, or called Slash a disease, etc etc.
Did anyone notice this?
Wonder if he's having a change of heart???

The show last night was great. DJ really did an awesome job. That guy is really a star. His leads really remind me of some classic sounding things. The three guitar set up was good, but I can see that it might cause some friction later on. Everyone seemed happy, but I could see Ron was pretty frustrated with the sound at one point and he seemed to get lost in the shuffle sometimes. Overall, they look really ready for the tour.

I have to say from the videos I have watched this looks like it was a GREAT show! The stage step up i9s 2nd-to-none: The band sounded great and Axl's voice seemed really good. I cannot wait to see these guys in Toronto!
While reading this site and others I see a lot of what people write. It is funny to me how much attention is paid to every little detail of Axl's appearance. Honestly I thought the braids looked stupid but did not really care one way or the other. He has obviously lost the braids now: Yet people still go on and on that he's fat or whatever else they can complain about. I am in no way an Axl apologist but the guy is out there playing live and is close to 50: He's not 25 or 30 anymore. How many 50 year-olds does anyone know that can run around on stage for 2 hours and sing??? For that matter how many 25 year olds can do it??? Hell I got winded the other night playing Rock Band with my son.
I guess my point is this is what we have and even-though we can go back in time and watch vintage GNR does not mean we can expect Axl 25 years later to do it exactly like he did in 1991... I hope this tour continues for a long time!

anyone else notice the lack of UYI stuff? Only 4 songs played and 2 were covers. Interesting.
Can't wait till Calgary!
12/12/2009 | 5:51:53 PM by C.T.
I'm perturbed more by the fact that Sorry was not played. It's one of the best songs on the album!

Ok two distinct features I love about this New NuGNR. First of all is the drumming! Ten times better than Matt Sorum..It's just feels more relaxed and kick ass!
Second of is DJ Ashba. Holy christ has every song been spot on and then some.

I can't believe he has hair unbraided with the classic scarf, could that be the original scarf he wore back in 92 era?... he looks like a true return to form, it looks great! I can't wait for someone to post a video for Shackler's Revenge as that song kicks ass! As for punching that guy out, he deserved it!... Looks like a similar stage back drop, albiet different colours and lights, but same three walls... nothing to complain about.. it would be nice if they went easy on the AFD tracks and more on the UYI.. don't expect Coma as that puts too much strain on Axl's vocals, and Estranged is a bit too complex for the new lineup to learn without proper rehersal time imo.. but Don't Cry, Civil War, Crash Diet or even hearing Oh My God would be crowd pleasing.. or Stinson instead of playing My Generation, busts out a rendition of a classic Replacements tune, a'la Tommy Gets His Tonsils out or Bastards Of Young Duet with Axl.. can't wait to see them in Ottawa!!!!

I was really happy to see the amount of leaks on you tube. If this continues I hope the Azzoff dude will just start making it a daily post on the myspace or social networks. The stuff i saw this morning was loaded 3 hours before i was able to see it and the hits were at 700 - 1000. The only part i was put of by was the fact that skid row is also touring in that neck of the woods. All of the Baz stuff was hijacked by skid row and hard to find.
Looking forward to waking up each morning and seeing how these sets transform. My hope is that the staggered solo stuff gets a little more improve as the dates increase.
