AFD To Be Re-Released With Original Artwork

Wednesday • August 6,  2010   2:38:15 PM

Universal Music will re-release Guns N' Roses' classic debut album "Appetite For Destruction" on vinyl. The LP is due on Tuesday, September 09, 2008 and the cover features the controversial original artwork by Robert Williams.

Go to CD Universe to place your order today and be one of the first to receive this product when it arrives.

Product Description:

Already a legend in its own meagre lifetime, this startling debut shrouded itself in controversy, from its original Robert Williams artwork to Axl Rose's unblinking accounts of LA's underbelly. This mawkish storytelling, combined with a brattish collective swagger and a surprisingly mature approach to their songs, guaranteed Guns N' Roses a speedy notoriety that was to serve their legend brilliantly. From the laconic 'Paradise City' to the achingly beautiful 'Sweet Child O' Mine', or the furious 'Welcome To The Jungle', the record brims with a brutal integrity. An album they could never surpass even if they had stayed together.

120 gram vinyl LP pressing of their genre-defining debut full-length album, originally released in 1987. The Lp cover features the controversial original artwork. **Please note that this vinyl pressing features 'For Promotional Use Only' printed on the artwork. 2007

German edition in its original sleeve design.

Recorded at Rumbo Studios, Canoga Park, California; Take One Studio, Burbank, California; Can Am Studio, Tarzana, California.

Why does Amazon even bother?

8/6/2008 | 4:34:44 PM by GNRxox

lol, why isnt Axl listed as a bandmember?????

8/6/2008 | 5:18:01 PM by Bear

120 gram instead of 180? Promotional Use label? This sounds like a bootleg

8/6/2008 | 5:23:10 PM by ayrshiregnfnrs

why do they release this again ? whats the point ? Ihave the original on vinyl (with the "rape" scene) and CD why trod on ground thats already been traversed, i get the fact that that new potential fans can be reached and by re-realeasing one of the greatest albums ever in a new guise would get more money in for the record label it does not justify a quick buck to be made !!

Keep whining like we haven't heard it all before. I feel bad for the web-dudes going to all the effort to post these new articles just to have the same monotonous bitching overrun every thread. Thanks for all the new reads guys.

I misplaced my original treasured LP during the insane ride which was my youth so I, for one, am looking forward to this little number. I know its not the same but still.....

This will get some mainstream press... Get the younger generation interested and maybe buy a few copies....

The Rock Band track.

The LP Reissue.

Getting the word out there for the CD cd.

i can wait as long as they want for Chin.Dem. thats not a problem, but why dont they just stick to this, instead of wasting more time on "re-releases"....dont get me wrong, i LOVE AFD, but I mean come one already...might as well fully release Chin.Dem. instead of trying to get some Xtra cash elsewhere...........

8/7/2008 | 12:30:22 AM by Jaymz

A good sign. Metallica did the same with their older albums to promote the upcoming Death Magnetic.

8/7/2008 | 12:36:52 AM by slane 92

Good Point,

U2 are doing exactly the same thing.

8/7/2008 | 2:31:48 AM by Clairvoyant

Yeah man "We want CD",whats wrong on that?If you like to wait for a life Axl to release CD its your right that doesnt mean the others fans can wait more and more like you...

8/7/2008 | 3:20:53 AM by slane 92

WTF?????

8/7/2008 | 3:24:15 AM by slane 92

I love you man, and im sorry no more advices from me I promise. Now where is that bottle of Miller gone....................

8/7/2008 | 3:52:28 AM by DomBomb

Smart marketing on behalf of GnR's management. What better way to get people excited about an upcoming album than by re-releasing AFD? The record that started it all! And what better way to get exposure amongst a younger demographic group that by releasing Shacklers Revenge on Rock Band. Let's not hold our collective breath but maybe....just maybe there is a method to the madness that is the release of Chinese Democracy!!!!!!

8/7/2008 | 5:02:02 AM by Kingham

Ordered it today!, if your a fan it is a must have.

8/7/2008 | 6:04:00 AM by JF

@ Dombomb

I agree. But hopefully people who listen to AFD now and become fans don't get disappointed with the far more varied musical style expected for ChiDem.

@ Kingham

I am not going to. I know what it sounds like. And I'm into the music, not into devotional objects. ;)

I am a faithful fan of this site who has valued every one of your opinions of the greatest band in the world. This, after viewing this site for many years, is my first log. In my opinion, and my only, Axl will not let any of his faithful fans down. I have for the past 15 years, relied on his genious lyrics, amazing concert footages, been at his concerts & listened to his music every day of my life. I have no doubt in my mind, that Axl will deliver to all of us, when he is ready. He is simply the best musician of our time who never ceaeses to amaze his followers. I strongly believe that he will deliver the best music that this industry has heard for many years past. He is the best, and always will be. My best to all of his believers, his fans & all that have faith in the forthcoming Chinesse Demoracy!

8/8/2008 | 9:48:51 AM by Stefan H (Sweden)

My BIGGEST wish is something that's never gonna happen but still, i would love to see the OLD Guns N' Roses get togheter again and ROCK the SHIT out of every rockband out there just as they did in the OLD DAYS...!!!

And i'm shore every single GNR FAN would rush to see the get togheter conserts around the world and brake some old stadium public records... =P

GNR Rocks...!!!

8/8/2008 | 1:29:18 PM by Raschke

EVIL ELF!!!!!

That's right folks, I'm sure that an evil elf is behind all of this. Years ago he cunningly crept into Axl's brain and started taking over, exerting his control over a brilliant mind and making it his own, for the sole purpose of playing evil f**Kin mind games on loyal fans of GNR!!

He caused Axl to distance the original members so much so that they left. He then withdrew Axl to a secluded house where he began plotting. Random internet leaks, re-issues, revolving band lineups, promises of an album that never appears, release dates that come and go like the wind, gay hair, a steady stream of rumors, and amongst it all some quite good music. Good enough that it is tormenting us.

Tormenting ME!!

You bastard Evil Elf! Release Axl and let him deliver the album!!!!

Now Dammit!!

I know you're in there, with your evil yellow eyes and wicked grin, rubbing your hands with glee. Playing your little games.

evil f**kin elf............

The suits plan seems to be working, it has all you burn-outs on here buzzing.

Wake up, G-n-R is dead, Axl has lost his mind, and REAL music goes on without him!!!

Long live VR!!!!
